- 1 large onion
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Peel the onion and cut off the top, leaving the root intact.
- Make 12-16 cuts in the onion, being careful not to cut all the way through.
- In a bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
- Dip the onion in buttermilk, then coat it in the flour mixture.
- Spray the onion with cooking spray and coat it with breadcrumbs.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Place the onion in the air fryer basket and cook for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- For a spicier version, increase the cayenne pepper.
- Make sure to separate the onion petals for even cooking.
