Description

Apple Cider Braised Pork is a delicious dish that features tender pork cooked slowly in a flavorful apple cider sauce, perfect for fall.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 lbs pork shoulder
  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp rosemary
  • 2 apples, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a large Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper, then sear on all sides until browned.
  4. Remove the pork and set aside. In the same pot, add onions and garlic, sautéing until softened.
  5. Pour in the apple cider, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pot.
  6. Add thyme, rosemary, and sliced apples to the pot.
  7. Return the pork to the pot, cover, and transfer to the oven.
  8. Braise for 3-4 hours, or until the pork is fall-apart tender.
  9. Remove from the oven and let rest before slicing.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the pork in apple cider overnight.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes or crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
  • This dish can be made a day ahead and reheated for better flavor.
