Description

Delicious baked apple fritters that are soft, sweet, and glazed, perfect for a fall dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and granulated sugar.
  3. In another bowl, mix the milk, applesauce, and egg until well combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the diced apples.
  5. Scoop the batter onto the prepared baking sheet, forming fritters.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. While the fritters are baking, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
  8. Once the fritters are done, drizzle the glaze over them while they are still warm.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the wet ingredients.
  • These fritters can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Feel free to substitute the apples with other fruits like pears or peaches.
