Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for gravy)
  • 2 cups milk (for gravy)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add the milk and stir until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently.
  6. Roll out to about 1-inch thickness and cut into rounds.
  7. Place biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. In a skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned.
  9. Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir to combine.
  10. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens.
  11. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  12. Serve the biscuits topped with sausage gravy.
