Description

Ingredients

  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups brie cheese, rind removed and chopped
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden.
  4. Gradually add the milk, whisking constantly until the mixture thickens.
  5. Stir in the brie cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  6. Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and mix well.
  7. If desired, transfer to a baking dish, top with breadcrumbs, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, add cooked bacon or sautéed mushrooms.
  • Feel free to substitute other cheeses if desired.
  • This dish can be made ahead and baked just before serving.
