- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups brie cheese, rind removed and chopped
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden.
- Gradually add the milk, whisking constantly until the mixture thickens.
- Stir in the brie cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and mix well.
- If desired, transfer to a baking dish, top with breadcrumbs, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, add cooked bacon or sautéed mushrooms.
- Feel free to substitute other cheeses if desired.
- This dish can be made ahead and baked just before serving.
