Capirotada Fácil is a traditional Mexican bread pudding made with layers of bread, syrup, and various toppings, perfect for celebrating Lent.

- 4 cups of bolillo bread, cubed
- 2 cups of milk
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of raisins
- 1/2 cup of chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
- 1/2 cup of shredded coconut
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a saucepan, combine milk, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Heat until the sugars dissolve.
- In a baking dish, layer the cubed bread, raisins, nuts, and coconut.
- Pour the milk mixture over the layered ingredients, ensuring even coverage.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, you can add a splash of rum or brandy to the milk mixture.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
- This dish can be made a day in advance and reheated before serving.
