Description

Capirotada Fácil is a traditional Mexican bread pudding made with layers of bread, syrup, and various toppings, perfect for celebrating Lent.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups of bolillo bread, cubed
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of raisins
  • 1/2 cup of chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • 1/2 cup of shredded coconut
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan, combine milk, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Heat until the sugars dissolve.
  3. In a baking dish, layer the cubed bread, raisins, nuts, and coconut.
  4. Pour the milk mixture over the layered ingredients, ensuring even coverage.
  5. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  6. Let it cool slightly before serving.
