- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup pecans, chopped
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup corn syrup
- 1/4 cup butter (for caramel)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add melted butter, egg, and salt to the yeast mixture.
- Gradually add flour and knead until a soft dough forms.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, corn syrup, and butter to make the caramel. Cook until bubbly.
- Spread the caramel mixture in a baking dish and sprinkle with chopped pecans.
- Roll out the dough, spread with butter, and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll the dough tightly and cut into slices.
- Place the slices in the baking dish over the caramel and pecans.
- Let rise for another 30 minutes, then bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes.
- Allow to cool slightly before inverting onto a serving platter.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon to the dough.
- These buns are best served warm.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
