- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1/2 cup cream cheese
- 3 cups milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until bubbly.
- Gradually add the milk, whisking constantly until the mixture thickens.
- Stir in the cream cheese until melted and smooth.
- Add the cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses, stirring until fully melted.
- Mix in the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir until well combined.
- Transfer to a baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes, or until bubbly and golden on top.
Notes
- For a crispy topping, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top before baking.
- Feel free to add cooked bacon or vegetables for extra flavor.
- This recipe can be made ahead of time and reheated.
