- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk

- 2 cups milk (for gravy)
- 1/4 cup flour (for gravy)

Instructions
- Begin by tenderizing the beef round steak using a meat mallet.
- In a bowl, mix together flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- In another bowl, whisk together eggs and buttermilk.
- Dredge each piece of steak in the flour mixture, then dip into the egg mixture, and finally coat again with the flour mixture.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Fry the breaded steaks for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove the steaks and set aside on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- In the same skillet, add 1/4 cup of flour to the remaining oil and whisk to create a roux.
- Slowly add in the milk while whisking continuously until the gravy thickens.
- Season the gravy with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the chicken fried steak topped with the country gravy.
Notes
- For extra flavor, marinate the steak in buttermilk for a few hours before cooking.
- Adjust the thickness of the gravy by adding more or less milk.
- Serve with mashed potatoes or biscuits for a complete meal.
