Description

A delightful and rich toffee recipe perfect for the holiday season, combining buttery sweetness with a crunchy texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine butter, sugar, water, and salt.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture reaches a boil.
  3. Continue to cook without stirring until the mixture reaches a deep amber color (about 300°F or 150°C).
  4. Remove from heat and pour the toffee onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee and let them melt for a few minutes.
  6. Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee.
  7. If desired, sprinkle chopped nuts on top of the chocolate.
  8. Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces.

Notes

  • Make sure to use a candy thermometer for accurate temperature readings.
  • Store in an airtight container to keep the toffee fresh.
  • For a festive touch, consider adding crushed peppermint on top of the chocolate.
