- 1 orange, sliced
- 1 lemon, sliced
- 1/4 cup of honey or sugar
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 5 whole cloves
- 3 star anise
- 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
Instructions
- In a large pot, combine the red wine, orange slices, lemon slices, honey or sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, and nutmeg.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat until it is warm but not boiling.
- Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 20-30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Strain the mulled wine to remove the spices and fruit slices.
- Serve warm in mugs, garnished with additional orange or lemon slices if desired.
Notes
- Adjust the sweetness to your preference by adding more or less honey/sugar.
- For a non-alcoholic version, substitute the red wine with grape juice.
