Description

A simple and delicious recipe for Italian herb and cheese bread that you can easily make at home.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp Italian herbs (oregano, basil, thyme)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve sugar in warm water and add yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  5. Incorporate the Parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, and Italian herbs into the dough.
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan.
  9. Let the dough rise again for about 30 minutes.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Let it cool before slicing and serving.

  • For a more intense flavor, add more herbs or cheese.
  • This bread can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
