- 4 lbs beef short ribs
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup red wine
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 bay leaf
Instructions
- Season the beef short ribs with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
- In a large skillet, sear the short ribs on all sides until browned.
- Transfer the short ribs to the crockpot.
- In the same skillet, sauté the onion and garlic until softened.
- Add the beef broth, red wine, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, thyme, and bay leaf to the skillet. Stir to combine.
- Pour the mixture over the short ribs in the crockpot.
- Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the meat is tender and falls off the bone.
- Remove the short ribs and strain the sauce if desired. Serve the ribs with the sauce drizzled on top.
Notes
- For extra flavor, marinate the short ribs overnight.
- Serve with mashed potatoes or crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
