- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup dried fruit (raisins, cranberries, etc.)
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, etc.)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, warm the milk and dissolve the yeast in it.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Add the softened butter, eggs, and yeast mixture to the dry ingredients.
- Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.
- Incorporate the dried fruit and nuts into the dough.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf.
- Place the loaf in a greased bread pan and let it rise again for 30 minutes.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For a sweeter bread, add more sugar to the dough.
- Feel free to customize the dried fruits and nuts based on your preference.
- This bread can be frozen for later enjoyment.
