- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 cup chopped celery
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon dried sage
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 cups cubed bread
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add butter, onion, and celery. Sauté until the vegetables are tender.
- Add sage, thyme, and black pepper to the skillet and stir well.
- In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread, sausage, sautéed vegetables, chicken broth, and parsley. Mix until well combined.
- Transfer the stuffing mixture to a greased baking dish.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
Notes
- For a spicier stuffing, use hot Italian sausage.
- This stuffing can be made a day ahead and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
