Ingredients

  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 cups cubed bread
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add butter, onion, and celery. Sauté until the vegetables are tender.
  3. Add sage, thyme, and black pepper to the skillet and stir well.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread, sausage, sautéed vegetables, chicken broth, and parsley. Mix until well combined.
  5. Transfer the stuffing mixture to a greased baking dish.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown on top.

Notes

  • For a spicier stuffing, use hot Italian sausage.
  • This stuffing can be made a day ahead and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
