Description
A classic apple pie recipe passed down through generations, featuring a flaky crust and a sweet, spiced apple filling.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 to 8 medium apples, peeled and sliced
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 package of pie crusts (or homemade crust)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour. Toss to coat the apples evenly.
- Roll out one pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie pan.
- Fill the crust with the apple mixture and dot with butter.
- Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the filling. Seal and flute the edges, then cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
- Let the pie cool before serving.
Notes
- For a sweeter pie, adjust the sugar according to the tartness of the apples.
- Serve with vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
