- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup Guinness stout
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup espresso
- 1 cup sugar (for caramel)
- Sea salt for topping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter and stir in the granulated and brown sugars until combined.
- Remove from heat and whisk in the eggs and Guinness until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- While the brownies are baking, prepare the espresso caramel by heating sugar in a saucepan until it melts and turns golden brown.
- Carefully add the heavy cream and espresso, stirring until smooth.
- Once the brownies are done, let them cool before drizzling with espresso caramel and sprinkling with sea salt.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips.
- Allow the brownies to cool completely before cutting for cleaner edges.
