Description

Indulge in these rich and fudgy Guinness chocolate brownies topped with a luscious espresso caramel and a sprinkle of sea salt for the perfect balance of flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup Guinness stout
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup espresso
  • 1 cup sugar (for caramel)
  • Sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter and stir in the granulated and brown sugars until combined.
  3. Remove from heat and whisk in the eggs and Guinness until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  8. While the brownies are baking, prepare the espresso caramel by heating sugar in a saucepan until it melts and turns golden brown.
  9. Carefully add the heavy cream and espresso, stirring until smooth.
  10. Once the brownies are done, let them cool before drizzling with espresso caramel and sprinkling with sea salt.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips.
