Ingredients

- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/4 cup coconut sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix whole wheat flour, coconut sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- In a saucepan, combine water and coconut oil, and bring to a boil.
- Pour the boiling mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.
- Let the dough cool slightly, then transfer it to a piping bag.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Pipe small strips of dough into the air fryer basket, making sure they are not touching.
- Spray the churro bites with cooking spray.
- Air fry for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the air fryer and toss in a mixture of coconut sugar and cinnamon.
Notes
- For a vegan option, ensure the coconut sugar is certified vegan.
- Adjust the cinnamon sugar mixture to your taste.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
