Description

Delicious and healthier version of churros made in an air fryer, perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth without the guilt.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix whole wheat flour, coconut sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. In a saucepan, combine water and coconut oil, and bring to a boil.
  3. Pour the boiling mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.
  4. Let the dough cool slightly, then transfer it to a piping bag.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Pipe small strips of dough into the air fryer basket, making sure they are not touching.
  7. Spray the churro bites with cooking spray.
  8. Air fry for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Remove from the air fryer and toss in a mixture of coconut sugar and cinnamon.

  • For a vegan option, ensure the coconut sugar is certified vegan.
  • Adjust the cinnamon sugar mixture to your taste.
