Ingredients
Scale
- 6 slices of day-old bread
- 4 tablespoons of butter
- 2 cups of milk
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 4 large eggs
- 3/4 cup of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup of raisins
- 1/2 cup of Irish whiskey
- 1/4 cup of brown sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Butter the bread slices on both sides and cut them into triangles.
- Layer half of the bread in a greased baking dish, sprinkle with raisins, and then layer the remaining bread on top.
- In a bowl, whisk together the milk, cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon.
- Pour the custard mixture over the bread layers, ensuring all pieces are soaked.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until the custard is set and the top is golden brown.
- While the pudding is baking, prepare the whiskey sauce by combining whiskey and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
- Serve the pudding warm, drizzled with the boozy whiskey sauce.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use brioche or challah bread.
- Let the pudding sit for a few minutes before serving to allow it to set.
- Adjust the amount of whiskey in the sauce according to your preference.
