Description

A deliciously rich and comforting Irish bread pudding topped with a decadent whiskey caramel sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups of stale bread, cubed
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup of raisins
  • 1/4 cup of whiskey
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar (for caramel sauce)
  • 1/4 cup of butter (for caramel sauce)
  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream (for caramel sauce)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread, milk, and cream. Let it soak for about 30 minutes.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
  4. Mix the egg mixture into the soaked bread mixture until well combined.
  5. Fold in the raisins and whiskey.
  6. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until set and golden brown.
  7. While the pudding is baking, prepare the whiskey caramel sauce by melting the brown sugar and butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  8. Once melted, carefully stir in the heavy cream and whiskey, and let it simmer until thickened.
  9. Serve the bread pudding warm, drizzled with whiskey caramel sauce.
