Description

Delicious chicken skewers marinated in sweet soy sauce and honey, perfect for grilling.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500 g chicken breast (cut into cubes)
  • 4 tablespoons ketjap manis (sweet soy sauce)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon ginger (grated)
  • 1 tablespoon sunflower oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • Satay skewers (soaked in water)

Instructions

  1. Start by making the marinade. In a large bowl, mix the ketjap manis, honey, chopped garlic, grated ginger, sunflower oil, salt, and pepper well.
  2. Add the chicken cubes to the marinade and ensure all pieces are well coated. Cover the bowl and let the chicken marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. For better flavor, preferably marinate for a few hours or overnight.
  3. Preheat the grill or a grill pan over medium heat.
  4. Thread the marinated chicken cubes onto the satay skewers, making sure not to place the pieces too close together for even cooking.
  5. Place the chicken skewers on the grill and cook for about 10-12 minutes, turning them regularly, until the chicken is fully cooked and has a nice grill color.
  6. Serve the chicken skewers warm, optionally with extra ketjap manis and a fresh salad or rice as a side dish.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can also add vegetables like bell peppers or onions to the skewers.
  • Serve with peanut sauce for a traditional satay experience.
  • These chicken skewers are perfect for a barbecue or as part of a festive dinner. Enjoy!
