Description

A delicious and traditional Mexican dessert made with bread, syrup, and various toppings.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups of bolillo or French bread, cubed
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of raisins
  • 1/2 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 1/2 cup of shredded coconut
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup of butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the milk, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.
  3. Add the cubed bread to the mixture and let it soak for about 15 minutes.
  4. Stir in the raisins, nuts, and coconut.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.
  6. Drizzle the melted butter on top.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown and set.
  8. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream.
  • Can be made a day in advance and reheated.
