Description

Moroccan Spiced Chicken Briouats are savory pastries filled with spiced chicken, wrapped in crispy phyllo dough, and baked to perfection.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup almonds, chopped
  • 8 sheets of phyllo dough
  • 1/2 cup melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the ground chicken with onions and garlic until browned.
  3. Add spices, salt, pepper, parsley, and almonds; mix well.
  4. Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush with melted butter.
  5. Place another sheet on top and brush with butter again.
  6. Cut the phyllo into strips and place a spoonful of the chicken mixture at one end.
  7. Fold the phyllo over the filling to form a triangle and continue folding until the end of the strip.
  8. Place the briouats on a baking sheet and brush the tops with more melted butter.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

  • Serve with a side of yogurt or a dipping sauce.
  • Can be made ahead and frozen before baking.
