Description

Mouthwatering Char Siu is a delicious Chinese BBQ pork recipe that is sweet, savory, and incredibly flavorful.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs pork shoulder
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Chinese rice wine
  • 1 tablespoon five-spice powder
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, honey, hoisin sauce, rice wine, five-spice powder, garlic, and food coloring.
  2. Marinate the pork shoulder in the mixture for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  3. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Place the marinated pork on a rack in a roasting pan and roast for 30-40 minutes, basting with the marinade every 10 minutes.
  5. Once cooked, let the pork rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  6. Serve with steamed rice and vegetables.

Notes

  • For best results, use a meat thermometer to ensure the pork reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
