Mouthwatering Char Siu is a delicious Chinese BBQ pork recipe that is sweet, savory, and incredibly flavorful.
Ingredients

- 2 lbs pork shoulder
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons Chinese rice wine
- 1 tablespoon five-spice powder
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon red food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, honey, hoisin sauce, rice wine, five-spice powder, garlic, and food coloring.
- Marinate the pork shoulder in the mixture for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Place the marinated pork on a rack in a roasting pan and roast for 30-40 minutes, basting with the marinade every 10 minutes.
- Once cooked, let the pork rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
- Serve with steamed rice and vegetables.
Notes
- For best results, use a meat thermometer to ensure the pork reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
- Char Siu can also be grilled for a smoky flavor.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
