Ingredients

- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon rosewater (or flavor of choice)
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- In a separate bowl, mix the cornstarch, cream of tartar, and 1 cup of water until smooth.
- Slowly add the cornstarch mixture to the sugar syrup, stirring constantly.
- Cook the mixture on low heat for about 30-40 minutes, stirring frequently until it thickens and turns a golden color.
- Add the lemon juice and rosewater, and mix well.
- If desired, add food coloring to achieve the desired color.
- Pour the mixture into a greased pan and let it cool for several hours or overnight.
- Once set, dust with powdered sugar and cut into squares.
Notes
- Store Turkish Delight in an airtight container to keep it fresh.
- Feel free to experiment with different flavors and colors.
- For a firmer texture, cook the mixture a little longer.
