- 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast

- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let it sit for 5 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Add pumpkin puree, melted butter, egg, and the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients; mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread with butter, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll the dough tightly and cut into slices.
- Shape each slice into a pumpkin by pinching the top and adding a small piece of dough for the stem.
- Place on a baking sheet and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- While baking, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
- Once rolls are cooled, frost with cream cheese frosting.
Notes
- For a stronger pumpkin flavor, add more pumpkin puree.
- These rolls can be made ahead and frozen before baking.
