Description

A delicious and easy-to-make Rice Cooker Tteokbokki, perfect for Iftar, combining traditional Korean flavors with a modern cooking method.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups of rice cakes
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 tablespoon of gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • 1 boiled egg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice cakes under cold water and soak them for 30 minutes.
  2. In the rice cooker, combine water, gochujang, soy sauce, sugar, and sesame oil.
  3. Add the soaked rice cakes to the mixture in the rice cooker.
  4. Close the lid and set the rice cooker to the ‘cook’ setting.
  5. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until the sauce thickens and the rice cakes are soft.
  6. Once done, garnish with chopped green onions and add a boiled egg if desired.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy your Iftar meal!

Notes

  • Adjust the spice level by adding more or less gochujang.
  • Feel free to add vegetables like cabbage or fish cakes for extra flavor.
  • This dish can be made vegetarian by omitting the egg.
