Description

A delicious and comforting scalloped sweet potato casserole topped with a rich brown sugar sauce, perfect for holiday gatherings.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large sweet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the brown sugar, melted butter, heavy cream, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. Layer half of the sweet potato slices in a greased baking dish.
  4. Pour half of the brown sugar mixture over the sweet potatoes.
  5. Add the remaining sweet potato slices on top.
  6. Pour the rest of the brown sugar mixture over the top layer.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.

Notes

  • For a crunchier topping, add chopped pecans or walnuts before baking.
  • This dish can be prepared a day in advance and baked just before serving.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less brown sugar according to your taste.
