A delicious and comforting scalloped sweet potato casserole topped with a rich brown sugar sauce, perfect for holiday gatherings.

- 4 large sweet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the brown sugar, melted butter, heavy cream, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Layer half of the sweet potato slices in a greased baking dish.
- Pour half of the brown sugar mixture over the sweet potatoes.
- Add the remaining sweet potato slices on top.
- Pour the rest of the brown sugar mixture over the top layer.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
Notes
- For a crunchier topping, add chopped pecans or walnuts before baking.
- This dish can be prepared a day in advance and baked just before serving.
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less brown sugar according to your taste.
