A delicious low-carb twist on the classic Shepherd’s Pie, featuring a creamy cauliflower mash topping.

- 1 head of cauliflower
- 1 lb ground beef or lamb
- 1 cup carrots, diced
- 1 cup peas
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Steam the cauliflower until tender, then mash it with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté onions and garlic until translucent.
- Add ground beef or lamb and cook until browned.
- Stir in carrots, peas, beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish and spread the cauliflower mash on top.
- If desired, sprinkle shredded cheese on top of the cauliflower mash.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden brown.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, substitute ground meat with lentils or mushrooms.
- Feel free to add other vegetables like bell peppers or zucchini.
- This dish can be made ahead of time and reheated.
