Description

A delicious low-carb twist on the classic Shepherd’s Pie, featuring a creamy cauliflower mash topping.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 head of cauliflower
  • 1 lb ground beef or lamb
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 1 cup peas
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Steam the cauliflower until tender, then mash it with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté onions and garlic until translucent.
  4. Add ground beef or lamb and cook until browned.
  5. Stir in carrots, peas, beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish and spread the cauliflower mash on top.
  7. If desired, sprinkle shredded cheese on top of the cauliflower mash.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  9. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, substitute ground meat with lentils or mushrooms.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables like bell peppers or zucchini.
  • This dish can be made ahead of time and reheated.
