Description

A stunning and delicious Yule Log Cake, also known as Bûche de Noël, perfect for holiday celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup chocolate ganache
  • Decorative elements (e.g., meringue mushrooms, powdered sugar for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.
  4. Fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture until just combined.
  5. Spread the batter evenly onto the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before rolling it up in the parchment paper.
  8. While the cake cools, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  9. Unroll the cooled cake, spread the whipped cream evenly, and roll it back up.
  10. Cover the rolled cake with chocolate ganache and decorate as desired.
