Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Peel and slice the sweet potatoes into 1/2 inch rounds.
  2. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the brown sugar, water, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt to the pot and stir until combined.
  4. Add the sweet potatoes to the pot and bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 30-40 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are tender.
  6. Remove the lid and cook for an additional 10 minutes to thicken the sauce.
