- 4 large sweet potatoes
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Peel and slice the sweet potatoes into 1/2 inch rounds.
- In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the brown sugar, water, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt to the pot and stir until combined.
- Add the sweet potatoes to the pot and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 30-40 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are tender.
- Remove the lid and cook for an additional 10 minutes to thicken the sauce.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- For a richer flavor, you can add a splash of vanilla extract.
- These sweet potatoes can be made ahead of time and reheated before serving.
