Description

Ingredients

  • 4 large sweet potatoes
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel and slice the sweet potatoes into rounds.
  3. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
  4. Add the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt, stirring until combined.
  5. Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a boil.
  6. Add the sweet potato slices to the pot and stir to coat them in the syrup.
  7. Transfer the sweet potatoes and syrup to a baking dish.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, basting occasionally with the syrup.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, add a splash of vanilla extract.
