- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water and sugar, then sprinkle yeast on top. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Add melted butter and salt to the yeast mixture.
- Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover and let it rise again for about 30-45 minutes.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool before slicing.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, you can replace some of the water with milk.
- This bread can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
- It can also be frozen for longer storage.
