Toffee Apple Pie is a delicious dessert that combines the sweetness of toffee with the tartness of apples, creating a perfect balance of flavors.

- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, chilled and diced
- 1/4 cup of sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 6 to 8 tablespoons of ice water
- 4 cups of sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1 cup of toffee bits
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in ice water, a tablespoon at a time, until the mixture forms a ball. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and fit it into a pie pan.
- In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and toffee bits.
- Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust.
- Cover with a top crust, seal edges, and cut slits for steam to escape.
- Brush the top with beaten egg.
- Bake for 15 minutes in the preheated oven, then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for 30-35 minutes until apples are soft and crust is golden brown.
- Let cool before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, add a tablespoon of vanilla extract to the apple mixture.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
