Description

Turkish delight, also known as lokum, is a traditional sweet confectionery that is chewy, flavorful, and often dusted with powdered sugar or desiccated coconut.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (pistachios or walnuts)
  • 1 teaspoon rosewater or orange blossom water
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, and water. Stir until smooth.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  3. Add lemon juice and continue to cook for another 10 minutes.
  4. Stir in the chopped nuts and rosewater.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased pan and let it cool for several hours or overnight.
  6. Once set, cut into squares and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
