Description

Turkish Revani is a delicious semolina cake soaked in syrup, offering a perfect balance of sweetness and texture.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup semolina
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup water (for syrup)
  • 1 cup sugar (for syrup)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (for syrup)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix semolina, sugar, yogurt, vegetable oil, eggs, baking powder, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  4. While the cake is baking, prepare the syrup by boiling water, sugar, and lemon juice together for about 10 minutes.
  5. Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and immediately pour the hot syrup over it.
  6. Let the cake absorb the syrup and cool before serving.

Notes

  • For added flavor, you can infuse the syrup with a few drops of rose or orange blossom water.
