Description

BBQ Meatball Subs are a delicious and hearty dish perfect for game day gatherings, featuring juicy meatballs smothered in tangy BBQ sauce and served in a soft sub roll.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups BBQ sauce
  • 4 sub rolls
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  4. Place the meatballs on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through.
  5. In a saucepan, heat the BBQ sauce over medium heat. Once the meatballs are cooked, add them to the sauce and stir to coat.
  6. Slice the sub rolls and place them on a serving platter.
  7. Fill each sub roll with BBQ meatballs and top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  8. Optional: Place the filled subs under the broiler for 2-3 minutes to melt the cheese.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy your game day favorite!

Notes

  • Feel free to use turkey or chicken instead of beef for a lighter option.
  • For extra flavor, add chopped onions or bell peppers to the meatball mixture.
  • These subs can be made ahead of time and reheated before serving.
