- 4 lbs pork shoulder
- 1 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 8 hamburger buns
- Coleslaw (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- In a bowl, mix together the apple cider vinegar, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, red pepper flakes, black pepper, and salt to create the vinegar sauce.
- Place the pork shoulder in a roasting pan and pour half of the vinegar sauce over it.
- Cover the pan with foil and roast in the oven for about 4-5 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.
- Remove the pork from the oven and let it rest for 30 minutes before shredding it with two forks.
- Mix the shredded pork with the remaining vinegar sauce.
- Serve the pulled pork on hamburger buns and top with coleslaw if desired.
Notes
- For a spicier sauce, add more red pepper flakes.
- This dish can be made in a slow cooker for convenience.
- Leftover pulled pork can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
