Ingredients

  • 2 cups sourdough starter
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the sourdough starter, warm water, and sugar. Mix well.
  2. Add the flour, melted butter, and salt to the mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle.
  7. Spread melted butter over the dough, then sprinkle with cinnamon, brown sugar, nuts, and raisins.
  8. Roll the dough tightly and slice into rolls.
  9. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Let cool slightly before serving.
