- 2 cups sourdough starter
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the sourdough starter, warm water, and sugar. Mix well.
- Add the flour, melted butter, and salt to the mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle.
- Spread melted butter over the dough, then sprinkle with cinnamon, brown sugar, nuts, and raisins.
- Roll the dough tightly and slice into rolls.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a sweeter version, increase the sugar in the filling.
- Can be served warm or at room temperature.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
