Description

A delicious and easy recipe for grilled sausage and peppers hoagies, perfect for your Labor Day cookout.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 Italian sausages
  • 2 bell peppers (red and green), sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • Mustard or your favorite condiments (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced bell peppers and onion with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  3. Place the sausages on the grill and cook for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally until fully cooked.
  4. In the last 5 minutes of cooking, add the peppers and onions to the grill in a grill basket or on a piece of foil.
  5. Once the sausages are cooked, remove them from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes.
  6. Slice the hoagie rolls and place a sausage in each roll, topped with grilled peppers and onions.
  7. Add mustard or any other condiments if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Feel free to use different types of sausages for varied flavors.
  • For a spicier kick, add sliced jalapeños to the peppers.
  • This recipe can easily be doubled for larger gatherings.
