Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups ripe peaches, peeled and chopped
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions
- Prepare your canning jars and lids by sterilizing them in boiling water.
- In a large pot, combine the chopped peaches, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens (about 30-45 minutes).
- Once thickened, use an immersion blender to puree the mixture until smooth.
- Pour the hot peach butter into the prepared jars, leaving about 1/4 inch of headspace.
- Wipe the rims of the jars with a clean cloth to remove any residue.
- Seal the jars with the sterilized lids and process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
- Remove the jars from the water bath and let them cool completely on a clean towel.
Notes
- Ensure peaches are ripe for the best flavor.
- Adjust sugar to taste if you prefer a less sweet butter.
- Store sealed jars in a cool, dark place for up to a year.
