- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup cooked and crumbled bacon
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook the macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
- Stir in flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper; cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in milk, cooking until the mixture thickens.
- Remove from heat and stir in cheese until melted and smooth.
- Add the cooked macaroni and crumbled bacon to the cheese sauce; mix well.
- Transfer to a baking dish and top with additional cheese and bacon if desired.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add chopped green onions or jalapeños.
- Can substitute bacon with turkey bacon for a lighter option.
