Description

A convenient recipe for make-ahead cookie dough that can be frozen and baked fresh whenever you desire.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together flour and baking soda; set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt until smooth.
  3. Add vanilla extract and eggs, mixing until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Divide the dough into portions and shape into logs or balls.
  7. Wrap the dough tightly in plastic wrap or place in an airtight container.
  8. Label and freeze the dough for up to 3 months.
  9. To bake, preheat the oven and bake frozen dough balls directly from the freezer, adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.
