Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ground ginger, and cinnamon.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the diced pears and chopped crystallized ginger.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
