Description

A rich and creamy Puerto Rican drink made with almonds, coconut, and spices, perfect for festive occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup almonds
  • 1 can (14 oz) coconut milk
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1 can (sweetened condensed milk)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup white rum (optional)

Instructions

  1. Soak the almonds in water overnight.
  2. Drain and blend the almonds with coconut milk until smooth.
  3. Strain the mixture through a fine sieve or cheesecloth to remove almond pulp.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the almond milk, evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and rum (if using).
  5. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
  7. Serve cold, garnished with a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired.

Notes

  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sweetened condensed milk.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit the rum.
