Description

A delightful Southern classic dessert that combines the salty crunch of pretzels with the sweetness of strawberries and a creamy filling.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups crushed pretzels
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup whipped topping
  • 2 cups strawberry gelatin
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix crushed pretzels, granulated sugar, and melted butter. Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. Bake for 10 minutes, then let it cool completely.
  4. In another bowl, beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Fold in the whipped topping.
  5. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the cooled pretzel crust.
  6. In a separate bowl, dissolve the strawberry gelatin in boiling water. Stir in the sliced strawberries.
  7. Pour the strawberry mixture over the cream cheese layer.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until set before serving.

Notes

  • For a firmer texture, allow the salad to chill overnight.
  • Feel free to substitute other fruits like raspberries or blueberries.
  • Ensure the pretzel crust is completely cooled before adding the cream cheese layer to prevent melting.
